House Concurrent Resolution 61

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS JAGUARS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Madison Central High School Boys Jaguars Soccer Team defeated Ocean Springs by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Arrow Field to claim the Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Championship, their third state title in school history; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars dominated the championship from start to finish, registering 28 shots on goal, with Ocean Springs only registering three; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars finished the season with a remarkable 22-1-1 record, and are now ranked number one in the nation by Max Preps following their outstanding season and championship title; and

WHEREAS, the key to the Jaguars consistency this season is that every teammate gives their best shot, and they play from whistle to whistle, always hustling and never slowing down; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Cecil Hinds, who has now won back-to-back state championships with both the boys and girls Jaguars soccer teams, and has broadened the Jaguars knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Coach Hinds continues to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, as evidenced in his ability to produce high caliber players, and by the team's incredibly successful season; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as the Madison Central High School Boys Jaguars Soccer Team who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison Central High School Boys Jaguars Soccer Team and veteran Head Coach Cecil Hinds for winning the MHSAA Class 6A State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Cecil Hinds, Madison Central Principal Austin Brown and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
