A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MISSISSIPPI MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME, ITS FOUNDER, JIM BREWER, AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, FOR HONORING GREAT MISSISSIPPI MUSICIANS.

     WHEREAS, Mississippi is known the world over for its music; and

     WHEREAS, visitors from around the world come to Mississippi to experience that music; and

     WHEREAS, educating our school children and citizens about their state's music history is vital; and

     WHEREAS, our beloved state has become known as the birthplace of America's music; and

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame coined the slogan, "Mississippi, birthplace of America's music," which is recognized worldwide; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize such outstanding cultural resources as the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, which tirelessly dedicates its time to honoring celebrated and distinguished Mississippi musicians so that they may know the pride their state feels for them:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, the hard work of Dr. Jim Brewer, founder and chair, and the loyal board of directors for their pioneering 20-year dedication to honoring great Mississippi musicians and our music heritage.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, Dr. Jim Brewer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
