House Bill 1661

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF MADISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO EMPLOY AN ASSISTANT COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY AND TO PRESCRIBE THE COMPENSATION FOR SUCH ATTORNEY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Board of Supervisors of Madison County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may employ one (1) part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney, and may pay such person an annual salary in such amount as determined by the board of supervisors, not to exceed the salary paid to the elected county prosecuting attorney.  The salary authorized by this section for the assistant prosecuting attorney shall be the sole and complete salary to be paid by Madison County for the assistant prosecuting attorney in Madison County, notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
