A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE EAST WEBSTER HIGH SCHOOL "WOLVERINES" CHEERLEADING SQUAD AND COACH SHAWNA WILLIAMS FOR WINNING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE MHSAA CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the East Webster High School "Wolverines" Cheerleaders competed in the MHSAA State Cheerleading and Dance Competition on December 14, 2013, and won State Championships in both Cheer (Small Non-Tumbling) and Dance (Small Pom). They competed in Small Nontumbling Division I against 11 other squads and in Small Pom against 12 other squads. The girls performed well and brought home two State Championships and a bid to Universal Cheerleading Association Nationals; and
WHEREAS, this is the second consecutive State Cheerleading Championship for this squad. It is the sixth Overall State Cheerleading Championship for East Webster; and
WHEREAS, the routine was choreographed by Trey Griffin and the team is coached by Shawna Williams. The team's 10 seniors helped capture this victory and the school is very proud of this group of girls; and
WHEREAS, the members of the East Webster High School Cheerleading Squad are: Seniors: Brittany Bell, Kayla Neal, Anna Hightower, Raegan Bland, Shelley Rae Edwards, Kylee McMinn, Laura Beth Kolb, Catie Davis, Kaitlin Walls, Elaina Kirkman; Juniors: Kellie Ray, Haley Pate, Kandler Flora, Maddie Brooks; Sophomores: Hagen Files and Trystun Vickers; Freshman: Hannah Harrison; Coach Shawna Williams; and
WHEREAS, it is with pride that we recognize these outstanding student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the East Webster High School "Wolverines" Cheerleading Squad on their two State Championships and Coach Shawna Williams for winning their second consecutive MHSAA Class 1A State Cheerleading Championship, and extend our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Williams and East Webster Principal Jack Treloar, forwarded to the Webster County School Board and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
