Senate Bill 2328

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE PLACEMENT OF MEMORIALS ON THE RIGHT-OF-WAYS OF STATE AND U.S. HIGHWAYS; TO AUTHORIZE THE COMMISSION TO SPECIFY MATERIAL OF WHICH THE MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE AND THE DISTANCE FROM THE HIGHWAY THAT THEY MAY BE PLACED ON THE RIGHT-OF-WAYS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Memorials may be placed on the right-of-ways of state and U.S. highways under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Transportation Commission and Mississippi Department of Transportation.  The memorials cannot exceed three (3) feet in height and three (3) feet in width.  The commission may specify the materials of which the memorials may be made and the distance from the highway that memorials may be placed on the right-of-ways.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
