A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. ALTORIA ROBINSON ON CELEBRATING THE MOST AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER BIRTH ON JULY 31, 2014.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Altoria Robinson, born on July 31, 1914, to Ben and Cloria Jordan of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, eagerly anticipates the celebration of the 100th anniversary of her birth on Thursday, July 31, 2014, to be commemorated with a celebration acknowledging and honoring her motherhood and service; and

     WHEREAS, an individual of wise counsel among countless individuals to bear the title as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Robinson, who was born during the time of Woodrow Wilson's presidency, and the Mississippi governorship of Earl L. Brewer, has lived through the administration of 17 United States Presidents and 26 Mississippi Governors; and

     WHEREAS, the family icon who has witnessed many historic events, including the invention of Henry Ford's automobile, the Wright brothers' first airplane flight and man's ascension into space and first walk on the moon, Mrs. Robinson has been blessed with a prosperous life of health, longevity, spirituality and love from her family and friends, as she has abounded in wisdom and knowledge to become the matriarch of her family; and

     WHEREAS, as fate would lend itself to the building upon the blueprint divinely designed for the pattern of her life by the Great Deity, Mrs. Robinson's heart was pierced by the love, chivalry and affection of Mr. Tycho Robinson, and the duo became bone of one another's bone and flesh of one another's flesh after exchanging the nuptials of holy matrimony in 1932, sharing a life of love and devotion for 51 years, complete with the addition of 11 children; and

     WHEREAS, with Proverbs 31:10 virtuosity, Mrs. Robinson was baptized at age 11 as a member of her church, where she has maintained a lifelong membership and committed service in such capacities as financial secretary, Senior Mission President, Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Senior Choir secretary, President of the Second Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Association's Women's Auxiliary and active member of the Order of the Eastern Star; and

     WHEREAS, as a lifelong resident and esteemed citizen and community pillar of Sandy Hook, Mrs. Robinson has experienced the transformational changes of American society and experienced various moments of our nation's iconic history, as she continues to rely wholeheartedly on God as the driving force to sustain and motivate her through the circumstances, trials and triumphs of life; and

     WHEREAS, with her profound faith and the unyielding support of her family, Mrs. Robinson leads an exemplary life, exuding the love of Christ through her tender love, care and impartation of the values of self-assuredness, perseverance, service and benevolence obtained with her years of wisdom into the lives of all whom she has encountered during her life's movements from the cotton and vegetable fields to the warmth embroidered in each stitch of the hand-made quilts she produced as an additional source of income; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an outstanding individual as Mrs. Robinson, who attributes her longevity to good, clean, moral living and her faith in God, as she celebrates this most auspicious occasion with her family and friends, as she now becomes a proud member of the Centenarian Club:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Altoria Robinson, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of her birth on Thursday, July 31, 2014, and express sincere wishes for continued health, joy, peace and prosperity for years to come.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Altoria Robinson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
