House Resolution 59

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JACKSON'S DOLLHOUSE DANCE FACTORY AND OWNER DIANNA WILLIAMS ON LANDING THE REALITY TV SERIES BRING IT! ON THE LIFETIME TELEVISION NETWORK.

     WHEREAS, on the evening of Wednesday, March 5, 2014, America's eyes were able to get a glimpse into the world of aspiring young dancers and their coaches straight from the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, with the premier of the new Lifetime network television series Bring It!, a weekly reality TV show featuring the elite Dollhouse Dance Factory of Jackson and its owner and primary coach, Mrs. Dianna Williams; and

     WHEREAS, discovered by the cable network when the Dancing Dolls Dance Team gained national exposure through videos of their competition performances uploaded to YouTube, Dollhouse Dance Factory offers instruction described by Mrs. Williams as "outside the box" in a variety of dance styles, including jazz, ballet and hip-hop, as well as cheerleading; and

     WHEREAS, since its humble beginnings when Dollhouse Dance Factory opened on August 23, 2010, with 23 students, members of the studio from the greater Jackson area have learned far more than the art of dance, as Mrs. Williams, affectionately known as "Miss D" on the television series, has emphasized characteristics such as high self-esteem, determination, persistence, high academic achievement, respectable manners, community involvement and the importance of good health to the young men and women she trains and mentors on a daily basis; and

     WHEREAS, Miss D, a highly talented dancer and seasoned coach who has been dancing since the age of four, is an outstanding role model for the dancers in her studio, always inspiring her students to aim for greatness and personally demonstrating, by the way she lives her life, that being hardworking, dependable and extremely likeable are the keys to success; and

     WHEREAS, Bring It!, which shines a spotlight on the elite world of hip-hop majorette competitions, has been the chance of a lifetime for the young dancers featured on the show that is filmed primarily on location at the Dollhouse Dance Factory studio in Jackson; and

     WHEREAS, while the TV series has greatly expanded Dollhouse Dance Factory's name recognition beyond the big-city competitions in which the studio's teams have participated in Atlanta, Chicago, Memphis and Nashville, the City of Jackson and the entire state have enjoyed the publicity generated by the nationally televised show's focus on Mississippians working hard to achieve their very best; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay special recognition to those persons and events that reflect positively on our state's citizenry such as the Dollhouse Dance Factory and Mrs. Dianna Williams, who has dedicated her career to enriching and molding the lives of young Mississippians, who are the future of our state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dollhouse Dance Factory and Dianna Williams on landing the nationally telecast reality series Bring It! on the Lifetime Television Network and extend to Mrs. Williams and the members of the Dollhouse Dance Factory's dance teams best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dollhouse Dance Factory owner Dianna Williams and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
