A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SMITHVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SEMINOLES FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH BUBBA TACKER FOR THEIR MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 1A NORTH HALF STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Smithville High School Seminoles Football Team defeated St. Aloysius High School in November 2013, to capture the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A North Half State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, Head Coach Bubba Tacker led the Seminoles in their dominating 47-24 victory in the North Half State Championship, and in beating Shelby Broad Street in the North Half Semifinals; and

     WHEREAS, Smithville finished the season with an impressive 11-5 record and a share of second place in Region 1-1A; and

     WHEREAS, the Seminoles student-athletes demonstrated great discipline, work ethic and skill in balancing academics and athletics, and achieving success during such a rigorous schedule; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding student athletes such as the Smithville  High School Seminoles Football Team, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Smithville High School Seminoles Football Team and Head Coach Bubba Tacker for winning the MHSAA Class 1A North Half State Championship and extend best wishes to the team and coaches, for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Bubba Tacker, Smithville High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
