House Resolution 26

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE JONES COUNTY JUNIOR COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH DOLORES DEASLEY FOR AN OUTSTANDING 2013 SEASON CULMINATING WITH THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES AND REGION 23 CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, the Jones County Junior College Women's Soccer Team is the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and Region 23 Champions, after completing an outstanding 2013 season with a 17-2 overall record and outscoring opponents 77-6; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the hard work and dedication of Head Coach Dolores Deasley, Assistant Coach Brendan Connolly and the players; and

WHEREAS, the team hosted the National Junior College Athletic Association's District H playoff game versus Eastern Florida State College; and

WHEREAS, Kelsey Cochran was named a National Junior College Athletic Association third-team All-American; Kelsey Cochran, Kelsey Simms and Briahna Dickerson were named All-Region 23, and Brittany Farrar, Laurel Riebock, Macy Rogers and Lindy Tabor were named All-MACJC; and

WHEREAS, Kelsey Cochran, Brittany Farrar and Laurel Riebock helped lead the South team to victory in the inaugural MACJC All-Star Soccer Game; and

WHEREAS, the Jones County Junior College Women's Soccer Team is as follows: sophomores, Kelsey Cochran, Brittany Farrar, Danielle Fortin, Karlee Mullins, Laurel Riebock, Kelsey Simms, Alexis Thornton and Madison Walker; freshmen, Lauren Arnold, Carolina Berryhill, Katy Carpenter, Smith Ann Chiles, Eevee Christy, Briahna Dickerson, Katie Johnson, Courtney Miller, Anna Mills, Macy Rogers, Logan Simpson, Lindy Tabor and Paige Williams; student trainers, Hayden West and Dustin Scaborough; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize this team that stands alone at the top, and has brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Jones County Junior College Women's Soccer Team and Head Coach Dolores Deasley for an outstanding 2013 season culminating with the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and Region 23 championships, and extend best wishes for continued success to the team and coaches in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Jones County Junior College and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
