House Concurrent Resolution 66

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MARC POOLE ON BEING NAMED INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Marc Poole, a fine arts instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, has been named Instructor of the Year for the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

WHEREAS, established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, the award is presented to an outstanding educator chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Marc Poole, employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past five years and a teacher for the past thirteen years, was selected to receive the award in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, Marc Poole earned his bachelor of arts and master of fine arts degrees from Mississippi State University; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his tireless efforts in the classroom to help individual students rise to their potential as artists in training, Marc Poole has worked to better the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College by advocating for the implementation of 3D printing technology and sponsoring the Art Guild, as well as regularly donating artwork to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Marc Poole, always eager to advance the arts throughout his community and beyond, has volunteered his time and talent to various community and professional organizations, including his faithful service as a member and chairman of the Ocean Springs Museum of History Commission and as an Artist Member of the American Society of Aviation Artists; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to pay special recognition to exceptional teachers such as Marc Poole, an extraordinarily gifted educator with a passion for the arts who has dedicated his career to teaching and positively influencing the lives of young Mississippians, who are the future of our state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Marc Poole on being selected Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to him our best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Marc Poole, the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
