House Bill 216

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT IT SHALL BE LEGAL TO VIDEOTAPE, FILM OR RECORD A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, FIREFIGHTER OR CONSERVATION OFFICER IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  It shall be lawful for any person to videotape, film or otherwise record any uniformed law enforcement officer, firefighter or conservation officer while such law enforcement officer, fire fighter or conservation officer is performing the duties related to their office; provided that any person videotaping, filming or otherwise recording such duties shall not interfere with the performance of such duties.  No state agency or political subdivision of the state shall enact any rule, regulation or policy to infringe on the rights established by this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
