Senate Concurrent Resolution 502

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CIVIC CONTRIBUTIONS OF HOLLY SPRINGS FIVE-TERM ALDERMAN GARRIE COLHOUN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Garrie Colhoun, respected five-term Alderman for the City of Holly Springs, has announced his retirement from public office following many years of civic and charitable service to his community and state; and

     WHEREAS, Garrie was a lifelong resident of the City of Holly Springs and, in addition to his service on the Board of Aldermen, Garrie Colhoun served in the following capacities:  former business owner of Burdette's Dry Cleaners, Holly Springs, Past President of the Holly Springs Lions Club, Rotary Club, and former member of the Marshall County Library Board; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Colhoun is married to the former Sherry Hart and they have two daughters:  Elizabeth and Rebecca.  He is an active member of First Baptist Church in Holly Springs; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we pay tribute to this most public spirited citizen of Mississippi whose enormous civic energy is a wonderful example to all public servants:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the civic contributions of five-term City of Holly Springs Alderman Garrie Colhoun, and extend our congratulations to him and his family on the occasion of his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That this resolution be presented to Honorable Garrie Colhoun, forwarded to the Holly Springs Board of Aldermen and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
