House Resolution 19

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. FRANCES HEIDEL FOR HER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE WITH THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, CONGRATULATING HER UPON RETIREMENT AND WISHING HER MANY YEARS OF ENJOYMENT DURING HER RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Frances Heidel, a valued member of Speaker Phillip Gunn's staff, is retiring after 27 years of dedicated service to the Mississippi House of Representatives; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we honor her successful career as a selfless public servant whose devoted service has been a blessing to the Mississippi House of Representatives throughout the past 27 years; and

     WHEREAS, Frances is a woman of integrity and hard work who is respected, not only amongst her peers, but the legislators of the Mississippi House of Representatives and the Mississippi Senate; and

     WHEREAS, her 27-year tenure with the Mississippi House of Representatives has required many late night hours assisting House members, and the current Speaker with tasks in preparation for the upcoming session or special session; and

     WHEREAS, before coming to work for the Mississippi House of Representatives in 1986, this Millsaps graduate taught in the public school district in her hometown of Benton, Mississippi, where she enlightened the minds of young people; and

     WHEREAS, she has executed her job over the years with a smile and delightful demeanor that has made every person refer to her as the "gentlewoman"; and

     WHEREAS, she has been lovingly supported by her husband, Billy, children, Rob and Woodson, and granddaughters, Coby and Braden; and

     WHEREAS, during her retirement, she will cherish the extra time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, a gifted gardener with an ideal "green" thumb, Frances's friends are amazed at the beautiful floral landscapes she creates in her spare time; and

     WHEREAS, Frances is also an entrepreneur who delights in creating beautiful jewelry as gifts for family, friends and coworkers; and

     WHEREAS, her service has been marked by her commitment to success, recognized leadership, sound judgment, and fairness because Frances has set the highest standard in all of her many roles as a valued employee, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and businesswoman; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we honor the impressive tenure of this most gracious lady, who is to be honored for her record of service and dedication, and her legacy of kindness and optimism:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend our very own Frances Heidel, whose distinguished service has been an asset to all those she has worked with, congratulate her upon her retirement and wish her many years of enjoyment.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Frances Heidel with affection and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
