A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING LIZ JOACHIM OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI, UPON HER RECEIPT OF THE PRESTIGIOUS "SPIRIT OF THE COAST AWARD."
WHEREAS, Liz Joachim of Biloxi, Mississippi, is no stranger to accolades. She has been named Biloxi Outstanding Citizen, Mother of the Year, First Lady of Biloxi, and one of Mississippi's 50 Leading Business Women Executives; and
WHEREAS, she was honored again by her community and friends by receiving the 25th Pat Santucci Spirit of the Coast Award during the annual meeting of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce on February 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, the prestigious Spirit of the Coast Award recognizes a chamber member who has had significant business success in the past year, and for contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, John McFarland, recipient of the 2012 "Spirit of the Coast Award" and the event Master of Ceremonies, said Elizabeth Corso Joachim "lives and breathes and shares the spirit of the Mississippi Coast"; and
WHEREAS, while running Corso Inc., a Biloxi vending company, Joachim has found time to serve on many boards and has volunteered her time and talents to a variety of community groups; and
WHEREAS, she has been a mentor and inspiration to countless men and women across the Coast throughout her career; and
WHEREAS, she also created an endowment at the University of Southern Mississippi for women over 40 who have had their education interrupted or never had a chance at a college degree; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we pay tribute to this most public spirited citizen of the Mississippi Gulf Coast whose enormous civic energy is a wonderful example to all citizens of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize Liz Corso Joachim of Biloxi, Mississippi, as the recipient of the prestigious "Pat Santucci Spirit of the Coast Award" by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, and extend our heartiest congratulations to Liz and her family on this auspicious occasion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mrs. Joachim, forwarded to the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
