A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS AND PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE OF MARSHALL COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY DAVID SCOTT JOHNSON OF RED BANKS, MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, David Scott Johnson, 41, of Red Banks, Mississippi, died January 25, 2013.  According to a spokesperson for the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Patrol Officer Scott Johnson died shortly after assisting a security guard in Southeast Memphis.  He was able to help the security guard get the aggressor under control; and

     WHEREAS, he was born June 7, 1971, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Larry Elbert Johnson and Brenda Kisner Johnson; and

     WHEREAS, he was a Baptist and a Deputy Sheriff of Marshall County; and

     WHEREAS, he leaves three sons:  Travis Dean Hood, Tray Dillion Hood and Dalton Lane Johnson, all of Red Banks, Mississippi; brother, Steven L. Johnson (Carrie); three aunts:  Gena Braley, Linda Brenton and Linda Johnson; and uncle Gary Johnson; and

     WHEREAS, it is with sadness that we note the passing of this respected Mississippi law enforcement professional who leaves a legacy of dedicated public service:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby mourn the loss and pay tribute to the law enforcement service of Marshall County Sheriff Deputy David Scott Johnson of Red Banks, Mississippi, and extend our sympathy to his surviving family on his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the surviving family of Deputy Scott Johnson, forwarded to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
