House Resolution 166

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE GREENWOOD MISSISSIPPI ROUNDUP COMMITTEE ON ITS OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN PLANNING AND PREPARING TO HOST THE 36TH NATIONAL BIKERS ROUNDUP.

     WHEREAS, on July 31 through August 4, 2013, the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee will be hosting the 36th National Bikers Roundup event, the largest annual camping rally in the country which targets African Americans and minority consumers, at the Tunica Arena & Exposition Center; and

     WHEREAS, with the potential number of motorcycle enthusiasts traveling to Tunica from all parts of the country reaching 20,000, as well as an extended audience of more than 30,000, the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee has dedicated countless hours planning and preparing to welcome motorcyclists and their families and friends to Tunica and the 2013 National Bikers Roundup; and

     WHEREAS, as the motorcycle marquee event of the year, the National Bikers Roundup serves as an opportunity to celebrate community while building camaraderie among motorcyclists and enthusiasts in a family friendly atmosphere, and the selection of the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee as the host of the 36th Annual Roundup event speaks highly of the organization's caliber and reputation; and

     WHEREAS, in order to ensure that an event of the magnitude of the National Bikers Roundup is a success for all, members of the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee, under the able leadership of Chairman Cleveland Woods and Co-Chairman Melvin McClinton, and other motorcycle clubs throughout the Delta Region have selflessly volunteered their time and talents making sure that every last detail has been addressed; and

     WHEREAS, in anticipation of the thousands of visitors from other states who will be welcomed to the Hospitality State for the Bikers Roundup this summer, it is most appropriate that the House of Representatives acknowledge the hard work of the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee in preparing to successfully host the 36th National Bikers Roundup:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee on its outstanding service in planning and preparing to host the 36th National Bikers Roundup in Tunica, Mississippi, and extend to the members of the committee best wishes for a most successful event.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Greenwood Mississippi Roundup Committee Chairman Cleveland Woods and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
