House Resolution 93

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING OIL-DRI CORPORATION OF AMERICA UPON ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF OPERATIONS IN TIPPAH COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, Oil-Dri Corporation of America, founded and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, since 1941, celebrated its 50th anniversary of operations in Tippah County, Mississippi, on January 16, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Oil-Dri purchased property from Gene Howell on Highway 15 North in Ripley, Mississippi, on January 16, 1963, to begin operations in Tippah County and has been a partner with the county for the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, as one of the county's oldest, continuously running manufacturers, Oil-Dri has provided thousands of Tippah County residents with job opportunities to grow and prosper; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Oil-Dri Corporation of America has supported Tippah County by working with local vendors and maintaining good relations with landowners; and

WHEREAS, the corporation has contributed financially to charitable organizations in the county and has been a major supporter of building projects for Tippah County schools, local fire and police departments, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and numerous other community projects; and

WHEREAS, Oil-Dri has two locations in Tippah County and currently employs 155 people, 70 at the Ripley plant and 85 at the Blue Mountain plant, and the corporation is a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of products for consumer, industrial and automotive, agricultural, sports fields and fluids purification markets; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend a corporation that demonstrates a strong dedication and commitment to its community and the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Oil-Dri Corporation of America upon its 50th anniversary of operations in Tippah County, Mississippi, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Oil-Dri Corporation of America and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps
