A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL LADY EAGLES SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Florence High School Lady Eagles Soccer Team finished the 2012-2013 season with an outstanding record of 16 wins, 5 losses and 3 ties; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles did very well in the state playoffs, winning the Class 4A State Championship with a 2-0 victory over West Lauderdale High School which marked the first time in school history that the Lady Eagles have won back-to-back state championships; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles had several accomplishments during the season including four All District recipients, a Local Wendy's Heisman recipient, a Local Lindy Callahan recipient, an All-Star soccer game participant and all four seniors on the team have received scholarships to play at the JUCO level where two of these will also play softball; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Gray Massey and Assistant Coaches Josh Cavanaugh and Justin Starnes who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the roster of the 2012-2013 Lady Eagles consists of Katy Carpenter, Hannah Runnels, Ashlyn Shields, Lindy Tabor, Kayla Anderson, Anna Duke, Skylarr Guthrie, Savannah Raines, Tori Riebock, Ali Sullivan, Abby Taylor, Chelsey Williams, Allana Brunson, Logan Courtney, Alex Howard, Madison Ingram, Nichole Keen, Rylee Sullivan, Amelea West, Ashley Langham, Ashlyn Spencer, Kaitlynn Summerlin, Anna Morgan Aultman, Te'ah Byrd, Haylee Howard, Mallory Ivy, Lindsley Lingold, McKenzie Sims, Caseigh Hickman and Hayden Sullivan and the team manager is Anna Claire Wooten; and

     WHEREAS, Florence High School is guided by Principal Tony Martin, Assistant Principal Laura Clark and Athletic Director Brad Cliburn while Dr. Lynn Weathersby is the Superintendent of the Rankin County schools; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Florence High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by such exemplary accomplishments as those of the Florence High School Lady Eagles Soccer Team:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Florence High School Lady Eagles Soccer Team for their outstanding 2012-2013 season, for winning the Class 4A State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Florence High School, Head Coach Gray Massey, Assistant Coaches Josh Cavanaugh and Justin Starnes and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
