A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING OCTAVIOUS COOLEY, ELI JOHNSON, JIMARCUS MOORE, AND DUKE UPSHAW UPON THEIR SELECTION TO THE 2012 MAX PREPS FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL TEAM.
WHEREAS, Octavious Cooley, Eli Johnson, Jimarcus Moore and Duke Upshaw were selected to the prestigious 2012 Max Preps Freshman All-American Football Team; and
WHEREAS, Octavious Cooley attends Laurel High School in Laurel, Mississippi, where he plays football for the Golden Tornadoes under Head Coach Todd Breland; and
WHEREAS, Eli Johnson attends Lafayette High School in Oxford, Mississippi, where he plays football for the Commodores under Head Coach Eric Robertson; and
WHEREAS, Jimarcus Moore attends O'Bannon High School in Greenville, Mississippi, where he plays football for the Green Wave under Head Coach Mack Sampson and Defensive Coordinator Charles Moore; and
WHEREAS, Duke Upshaw attends Baldwyn High School in Baldwyn, Mississippi, where he plays football for the Bearcats under Head Coach Michael Gray; and
WHEREAS, having demonstrated such elite talent at an early age, it will be exciting to see these young men develop and improve as they continue their football careers in their respective Mississippi high schools; and
WHEREAS, Mississippi is known for producing top football talent, and the Class of 2016 will be no exception as these four young men are already proving; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the stellar achievements of outstanding student athletes, whose talents and high degree of sportsmanship reflect honor upon their schools, their communities and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Octavious Cooley, Eli Johnson, Jimarcus Moore, and Duke Upshaw upon their selection to the 2012 Max Preps Freshman All-American Football Team, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Octavious Cooley, Eli Johnson, Jimarcus Moore, Duke Upshaw and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
