A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE EXCEPTIONAL AND DEDICATED CAREER OF MRS. FREDDA SANDERSON MCCUNE AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM THE IUKA LIBRARY AFTER 34 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Fredda Sanderson McCune, Iuka resident and upstanding public servant, has announced her plans for retirement from the Iuka Library, concluding a stellar career of public service after 34 years; and

     WHEREAS, always a friendly and enthusiastic librarian, Mrs. McCune especially cared for the children's programs of the library, and she tried throughout the years to focus on building the children's resources in the library, successfully expanding the summer reading program from 17 participants in its year of inception to 120 participants in 2012; and

     WHEREAS, under Mrs. McCune's leadership as the driving force behind its operations, the Iuka Library increased from a circulation of 28,254 in 1979 to a circulation of 65,118 in 2012, increased its books from 10,399 to 33,413 during the same span of time, and underwent a major renovation and addition in 1995 and the computerization of the entire card catalog system; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize the significant professional achievements and stellar employment career of such zealously devoted public servants such as Mrs. McCune, whose commitment to public service, ethic of hard work and diligence has been of great benefit to the State of Mississippi and source of aid for all those who rely on the services which she has provided:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the dedicated service and stellar career of Mrs. Fredda Sanderson McCune, congratulate her upon the occasion of her retirement after 34 years of dedicated public service, for her distinguished career and meritorious commitment to the City of Iuka, and extend best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors as she enjoys the lighter days of her retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Fredda Sanderson McCune and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
