AN ACT TO REQUIRE STATE AGENCIES AND DEPARTMENTS TO CONDUCT AN ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE UPDATE INFORMATIONAL SESSION FOR THE PUBLIC ABOUT ANY LEGISLATION ENACTED AT THE REGULAR SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE THAT REVISES THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE AGENCY OR DEPARTMENT, WITHIN NINETY DAYS AFTER THE END OF THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Within ninety (90) days after the end of each regular session of the Legislature, each agency or department of the State of Mississippi shall conduct a legislative update informational session for the public about any legislation enacted at the legislative session that revises the powers and duties of the agency or department. The agency or department shall provide advance notice of the session, including the date, time and location, in print and broadcast media in the state and on the website of the agency or department. At the session, a representative of the agency or department shall present a summary of the revisions made by any legislation to the powers and duties of the agency or department, and answer questions that members of the public may have about the revisions or the effect of the revisions.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2013.
