AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 99-43-8, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY A VICTIM'S RIGHT TO RECEIVE CERTAIN INFORMATION RELATED TO A CRIMINAL PROSECUTION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 99-43-8, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
99-43-8. (1) This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Broderick Rashad Danti Dixon Act."
(2) Upon request, the victim or the decedent's family has the right to receive, from the appropriate law enforcement agency, free of charge, a copy of the initial incident report of the case and access to all evidence, discovery and documents used by the prosecuting attorney against the defendant as well as the transcript of the trial court subject to any confidentiality requirements provided by law.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2013.
