Senate Resolution 6

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING DAVID UPTON OF PASCAGOULA, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "2012 MISSISSIPPI 4-H VOLUNTEER LEADER OF THE YEAR."

     WHEREAS, on February 21, 2012, after being nominated by fellow 4-H volunteers and the 4-H Advisory Board members, Mr. David Upton of Jackson County, Mississippi, was selected as the "2012 Mississippi 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association Volunteer Leader of the Year"; and

     WHEREAS, David has also earned the additional title of "2012 Outstanding 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor of the Year"; and

     WHEREAS, his selection recognized the 4-H Shooting Sports Program that he helped to establish in Jackson County during his last three years of service; and

     WHEREAS, David is a current employee of Mississippi Phosphates Corporation and a member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church, where he serves on the Board of Trustees; and

     WHEREAS, he is an avid outdoorsman and has generously donated hundreds of hours of volunteer service to the Shooting Sports Program; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we commend this leadership volunteer who has enriched the lives of the sportsmen of South Mississippi and whose dedication to the youth of Mississippi has brought honor to his community and to his state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and congratulate David Upton of Pascagoula, Mississippi, upon his receipt of the "2012 Mississippi 4-H Volunteer Leader of the Year" awarded by the Volunteer Leaders Association, and extend to David, his family, his friends and fellow volunteers our best wishes on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mr. David Upton, forwarded to the Jackson County 4-H Club and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
