A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING YOLANDA MAYBERRY FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry, a Human Services Instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for 12 years as a traditional classroom and online instructor; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and Master of Business Administration degree from William Carey University; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry serves as a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College District Graduation Committee; Learning Resources Committee; College Centennial Subcommittee for the Jackson County Campus; EEOC Representative; Human Services Club Sponsor/Interclub Council; Human Services Advisory Council; United Way Campus Coordinator; MGCCC Leadership Program graduate; and Lamplighters Program for Community College Instructors; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry is a member of the National Association for Human Services Education; Mississippi Faculty Association; Ladies of Peter Claver Organization; and Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Mayberry is a member of the Gulf Coast Women's Center "Adrienne House" Advisory Committee; United Way Community Service Volunteer Team 2006-2007; and Coordinator of Filed Placement Service Learning for students who volunteered more than 7,000 hours annually to various community agencies; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this professional educator, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Yolanda Mayberry for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Yolanda Mayberry, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
