A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE IMPRESSIVE AND DEDICATED CAREER OF JUDGE ETTA ANN BOWIE UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER 28 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE AS A JUSTICE COURT JUDGE OF CHOCTAW COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Judge Etta Ann Bowie, a native of McCool, Mississippi, and resident of Weir, Mississippi, has retired after an impressive and dedicated career of 28 years of public service as a Justice Court Judge of Choctaw County; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Ethel High School in Ethel, Mississippi, Judge Bowie not only pursued a career as a judge, but she also served the students, teachers and staff of the Choctaw County School District as a lunchroom manager for many years; and
WHEREAS, she is known by attorneys who argued before her bench as a judge who was open to listening to both sides of every argument and fair to everyone, treating everyone equally who appeared before her; and
WHEREAS, a member of Weir Baptist Church, Judge Bowie is the proud mother of two children, Darla Mayo and Mike Braswell, and the proud grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Choctaw County and its people are greatly indebted to her for her public service, and she will be missed by her coworkers and work associates who wish her a happy and full retirement; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the dedicated career of such a remarkable individual as Judge Bowie, whose success should be strived for by all citizens of this great state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the impressive and dedicated career of Judge Etta Ann Bowie upon the occasion of her retirement after 28 years of public service as a Justice Court Judge of Choctaw County and extend warmest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Judge Bowie and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
