House Resolution 49

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DORIS ADAMS WILLIS JOBE OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

WHEREAS, Doris Adams Willis Jobe, born on July 2, 1912, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Vonley and Clementine Adams Willis, moved to Durant, Mississippi, about 1918 and will celebrate her 100th birthday on July 2, 2012; and

WHEREAS, a virtuous woman among countless individuals to bear the title as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Jobe has a worth that far exceeds the price of rubies, as she has withstood the tests of time and abounded in wisdom and knowledge to become the matriarch of five generations; and

WHEREAS, having been blessed to experience a life of love and happiness, Mrs. Jobe united in holy matrimony to the late Wickham M. Winborn, in 1933, and together they were blessed with an adoring daughter, Dixie Lee; and

WHEREAS, after the death of her husband in 1975, Mrs. Jobe married the late Dr. Euclid R. Jobe in 1980, and together the couple shared many joyous occasions with their family, including Mrs. Jobe's daughter, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, after receiving her associate's degree from Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia, in 1932, Mrs. Jobe moved home to Durant, where she worked several jobs during the war effort while Mr. Winborn served in the Navy; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jobe was hired as the business manager for the new hospital in Durant in 1949 and later, was hired as the Business Manager of Mississippi Charity Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, where she worked until the new University of Mississippi Medical Center was opened; and

WHEREAS, after leaving Mississippi Charity Hospital, Mrs. Jobe went to work for the State of Mississippi, primarily for the Collegiate Board of Trustees before being appointed Executive Director of the Hospital Reimbursement Commission upon its formation by the Legislature; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jobe served as Executive Director of the Hospital Reimbursement Commission from 1963-1978, and she served as President of the National Association of Reimbursement Officers in 1970, where she organized the National Convention which was held in Biloxi in 1971; and

WHEREAS, ever dedicated to her faith and trust in Jesus, Mrs. Jobe has been a lifelong member of Durant Methodist Church, the church that nurtured her from childhood to adulthood; and

WHEREAS, active in and throughout the community, Mrs. Jobe was a member of the Pilot International Club for many years, also serving as its president; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jobe has seen the transformational changes of the United States of America, and has relied wholeheartedly on God as the driving force to sustain and power her through the circumstances, trials and triumphs of life, while sustained by her profound faith to lead an exemplary life, exuding the love of Christ and imparting the values of self-assuredness, perseverance, service and benevolence obtained with her years of infinite wisdom into the lives of all she has encountered along this journey; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the lives of outstanding individuals, such as Mrs. Jobe, who attributes her longevity to good, clean, moral living and her faith in God, as she celebrates this most grand occasion with her family and friends:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Doris Adams Willis Jobe upon the occasion of her 100th birthday on July 2, 2012, and express sincere wishes for continued health, joy, peace and prosperity for many years to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Jobe and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
