A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2011-2012 SCOTT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING SQUAD FOR WINNING THE 2011 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 2A LARGE VARSITY NONTUMBLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Scott Central High School Cheerleading Squad performed against and defeated several other dance teams from across the state for the title of Class 2A State Champions of the Large Varsity Nontumbling category at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 17, 2011; and

     WHEREAS, the Scott Central High School Cheerleading Squad produced a dominating show of talent, courage and commitment to triumph in the MHSAA Class 2A Division of the championship competition to achieve an amazing feat; and

     WHEREAS, outfitted with a youthful 2011-2012 team, Coach Christy Martin managed to compose a championship cheerleading routine; and

     WHEREAS, working on their state championship routine to turn it into perfection for the state competition, the team knew it would take all their sponsors asked of them in order to be confident enough to hit their difficult routine perfectly; and

     WHEREAS, the Scott Central High School Cheerleading Squad is comprised of the following members:  Payton Smith, Taylor Warren, Keana Wash, Rikki Crimm, Bailey Easterling, Tymaiya Gray, Laura Williamson, Brianna Crimm, Elise Darby, Samantha Haralson, Taren Harrell, Rebecca Herring, Kaitlin Smith, Madison Pettigrew, Courtney Bell, Brianna Easterling and Caitlyn Clark; and

     WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these Magnolia State student athletes have brought honor to Scott Central High School and to the entire State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the accomplishments of young student athletes, such as the Scott Central High School Cheerleading Squad whose dedication to their academics and athletics is exemplary of the same dedication of the parents', teachers' and sponsors' commitment to equip them with life's necessary tools, which reflect great honor upon the entire Scott County School District and the community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Scott Central High School Cheerleading Squad for their 2011 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A Large Varsity Nontumbling Championship title and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future academic and athletic pursuits.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Scott Central High School, Coach Christy Martin, the Scott County School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
