House Resolution 33

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JOHN ANDREW MULKEY ON ACHIEVING THE HONOR OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD AND BEING CELEBRATED AT THE DISTINGUISHED EAGLE COURT OF HONOR CEREMONY.

     WHEREAS, John Andrew Mulkey of Oxford, Mississippi, a member of the Chicksa District of the Yocona Area Council Troop 45, was honored with the Eagle Scout Award on December 18, 2011, during the distinguished Eagle Court of Honor ceremony; and

     WHEREAS, this time honored ceremony was held at First Presbyterian Church located near the Square in Oxford; and

     WHEREAS, this young man has been a scout for a number of years, and as evidenced by the receipt of the Eagle Scout Award, his list of community service and extracurricular activities indicate the bright future that exists for this young Mississippian; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his years as a Boy Scout, Drew has fulfilled his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America by earning the required merit badges; and

     WHEREAS, Drew's Eagle Scout promotion was earned by completing projects at Camp Lake Stephens in Lafayette County, where he and other scouts improved trails on the property by clearing the trails, cleaning up roots, placing dirt and sand on the trails to smooth them over and building steps out of cross ties to help curb the effects of erosion and provide better footing for walking up hills; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend young Mississippians, such as John Andrew Mulkey, who have attained scouting's highest rank, and in doing so, bring honor to their family, school, community and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate John Andrew Mulkey of the Chicksa District of the Yocona Area Council Troop 45 upon earning the Eagle Scout Award and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to John Andrew Mulkey and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
