House Resolution 28

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BOONEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING TEAM AND COACH SHERRY FERRELL FOR WINNING THE 2011 MHSAA CLASS 3A CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Booneville High School Cheerleaders performed against and defeated several other cheerleading squads from across the state for the title of Class 3A State Champions in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Cheerleading State Championship on December 17, 2011, in Jackson, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, the Booneville High School Cheerleaders produced a dominating show of talent, courage and commitment to triumph in the MHSAA Class 3A division of the championship competition; and

     WHEREAS, outfitted with a youthful 2011 squad filled with heart, Coach Sherry Ferrell managed to compose a championship cheerleading dance team; and

     WHEREAS, these well-deserving champions achieved an amazing and unparalleled streak in high school cheerleading that has catapulted and kept Booneville High School in the limelight for two years straight; and

     WHEREAS, working on their state championship routine to turn it into perfection for the state competition, the team knew it would take all that Coach Ferrell asked of them in order to be confident enough to hit their difficult routine perfectly; and

     WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these Magnolia State student athletes have brought honor to Booneville High School and to the entire State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, the roster of the 2011 Booneville High School Cheerleading Squad includes:  Kinsey Calvery, Scarlett McCay, Ashley Bullard, Kelly Davis, Olivia Baggett, Courtney Deaton, Abbey England, Haleigh Tennison, Everley Bumpas, Lara Lynn Waddell, Kaila Mason, Carli Bullard, Kali Cole, Lindie Hill, Katelyn Murphy, Alexa Dunahue and Connor Burns; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the accomplishments of our young student athletes, such as the Booneville High School Cheerleading Squad whose dedication to their academics and athletics is exemplary of the same dedication of the parents', teachers' and coaches' commitment to equip them with life's necessary tools, which reflect great honor upon the entire Booneville school system and community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Booneville High School Cheerleading Squad and Coach Sherry Ferrell for their 2011 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A Cheerleading Championship title and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all of their academic and athletic pursuits.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Booneville High School, Coach Ferrell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
