A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. EARSKIN EVETTS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 106TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, Earskin Evetts, born January 9, 1906, celebrates the wonderful milestone of his 106th birthday, to be commemorated with family and friends in Alcorn County; and
WHEREAS, a hard worker since his youth, Mr. Evetts worked the land around his home with his family in order to put food on the table; and
WHEREAS, after working as a janitor in Kenosha, Wisconsin, hospitals, Mr. Evetts returned to his hometown of Rienzi upon his retirement, and he now resides at the Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, Mississippi, where he has lived since 2006; and
WHEREAS, united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Irene Evetts, the couple raised two children, Vera and Cecil; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Evetts takes pride in his family of six generations, including two children, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, enthusiastic about his garden at home, Mr. Evetts still maintains a great love and appreciation for flowers; and
WHEREAS, a devout Christian, Mr. Evetts is known for his love of God, as evidenced in his care and concern for his family and fellow man; and
WHEREAS, trusted and loved throughout the community, family and friends of Mr. Evetts attribute his longevity to healthy, good, clean, moral living and his faith in God, and he continues to be lovingly supported by his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor a well-loved gentleman such as Mr. Earskin Evetts, whose many years of compassion for others will be admired for generations to come, and whose love and devotion to his family and his community has truly been an inspirational blessing to all those he encounters:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Earskin Evetts on the occasion of his 106th birthday on January 9, 2012, and extend heartfelt wishes for many more years of good health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Earskin Evetts and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
