House Concurrent Resolution 117

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING TEAM AND COACH MELONIE MOORE-WASHINGTON FOR WINNING THE 2011-2012 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 5A STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Neshoba Central High School cheerleaders competed against several other squads in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Cheerleading Championship, and after their superb performance, they captured the Class 5A State Cheerleading Championship; and

     WHEREAS, during the competition, the cheerleaders performed a new routine to precision for the judges that was choreographed by Austin McNair, which consisted of tumbling and difficult stunts designed for their strong points, and they nailed the routine with their best-ever performance of it; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Melonie Moore-Washington said the girls did a good job at covering each other's faults, unifying all of their strengths to make a good squad, and they did a really awesome job working toward the accomplishment of their one goal, "Win State"; and

     WHEREAS, during this special season, the Neshoba Central cheerleaders worked extremely hard to succeed, learning and perfecting football and basketball cheers for the games; and

     WHEREAS, through their superior accomplishments, these Magnolia State student athletes have brought honor to themselves and to Neshoba Central High School; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Neshoba Central High School cheerleading squad are:  Mackie Pettit (captain), Molli Nowell (cocaptain), Erika Clark, M.E. Clark, Adrian Fulton, Allyson Burnett, Lauren Coward, Ali Gray, Melissa Miller, Karleigh Moss, Anna Leigh Whitney, Joslyn Day, Ashely Figenschue, Bailey Wilborn, Emily Crenshaw and Natalie Goodin; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding student athletes such as the Neshoba Central High School cheerleading team:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Neshoba Central High School cheerleading team and Coach Melonie Moore-Washington for winning the 2011-2012 MHSAA Class 5A State Cheerleading Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Neshoba Central High School, Coach Melonie Moore-Washington and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
