House Concurrent Resolution 86

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE REMARKABLE AND DEDICATED SERVICE OF MALCOLM KUYKENDALL AS SUPERINTENDENT OF THE TISHOMINGO COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

WHEREAS, after an esteemed career in education and after having provided his knowledgeable skill and service to the citizens of Tishomingo County, Malcolm Kuykendall has announced his plans to retire from the Office of Superintendent of the Tishomingo County School District, a position in which he has provided a remarkable and dedicated service for over six years; and

WHEREAS, Superintendent Kuykendall's entire career in education has been in Tishomingo County, where he has worn many hats in the fulfillment of his duties as principal, assistant principal and basketball coach at Belmont High School; and

WHEREAS, during his six-year term as superintendent, innovative initiatives have been forged with parents, the youth court and other federal and state governmental entities, along with business, industry and community service organizations to renovate the district's campuses and to position and prepare the northeastern most county to receive limited funding from the federal government earmarked for school construction; and

WHEREAS, under the rigorous new standards that the state now requires, Superintendent Kuykendall has worked to ensure improvement in the Tishomingo County School District, and performance continues with the district displaying excellence in its QDI, growth, graduation rate and academic scholarships, all which have ranked among the very top; and

WHEREAS, a champion of student achievement and academic excellence, Superintendent Kuykendall has stated his appreciation of the great school board and the outstanding employees of the Tishomingo County School District; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the works of zealous individuals who are tasked with providing a prosperous and challenging educational environment for our state's youth, who are its future, as has been epitomized in the service and dedication of Superintendent Kuykendall:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the remarkable and dedicated service of Malcolm Kuykendall as Superintendent of the Tishomingo County School District, congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement and extend our most sincere wishes for daily enjoyment in the lighter years of his retirement with his lovely wife, Jane, as they shower their beautiful grandchildren with affection and love.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Superintendent Kuykendall, the Tishomingo County School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
