House Concurrent Resolution 56

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING OLIVER JOSEPH NASH ON ACHIEVING THE HONOR OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD AND BEING CELEBRATED AT THE DISTINGUISHED EAGLE COURT OF HONOR CEREMONY.

     WHEREAS, Oliver Joseph Nash of Jackson, Mississippi, and a member of the Andrew Jackson Council, Troop 8, was honored with the Eagle Scout Award during the distinguished and time honored Eagle Court of Honor ceremony, held on February 5, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Jackson; and

     WHEREAS, this young man has been a scout for a number of years, and as evidenced by the receipt of the Eagle Scout honor, his list of community service and extracurricular activities indicate the achievements and the bright future that exist for this young Mississippian; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his years as a Boy Scout, Oliver has fulfilled his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America by earning the required merit badges; and

     WHEREAS, Oliver's Eagle Scout promotion was earned by completing projects at the Laurel Street Park in the Belhaven Neighborhood in Jackson, which included the installation of three bag stations for use of the public that walk their dogs in the park, as well as planting flowers and spreading pine straw to landscape the neighborhood park; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend young Mississippians, such as Oliver Joseph Nash, who have attained scouting's highest rank and in doing so, bring honor to their family, school and community and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Oliver Joseph Nash of Andrew Jackson Council, Troop 8, upon earning the Eagle Scout Award and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Oliver Joseph Nash and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
