House Concurrent Resolution 21

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF FORMER ISSAQUENA COUNTY SHERIFF ARTHUR "BUBBA" LAWLER, AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, former Sheriff of Issaquena County, Mississippi, Arthur "Bubba" Lawler, born to Arthur and Eva Lawler, departed this life on January 20, 2012, in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 74, to enter into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father, bringing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, Sheriff Lawler was the Sheriff of Issaquena County from 1972-2003, serving eight consecutive terms prior to his retirement; and

     WHEREAS, serving the citizens of Issaquena County with pride and diligence, Sheriff Lawler was a much-respected member of his community as a law enforcement officer and friend, and he will be deeply missed by his community; and

     WHEREAS, though he has traversed the river of life, after enduring life's trials and triumphs, to now stand on golden heavenly shores in a joyous reunion with family and friends, the rich legacy of his memory will be cherished forever in the lives of his loving survivors:  his wife, Dolores Bagley Lawler; daughter, Lisa Nipper; sons, Lee Lawler and Todd Lawler; grandsons, Nelson, John Jaren, Mason and Colton; granddaughter, Annabeth; and siblings, Pearl Massey and Harold Herman; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the life of outstanding civil servants and dedicated citizens, such as Sheriff Lawler, whose pride in his community and devotion to upholding justice are to be extolled and admired:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of former Issaquena County Sheriff Arthur "Bubba" Lawler, and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Sheriff Lawler and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
