AN ACT TO REQUIRE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO MAINTAIN RECORDS OF REPORTED HOMICIDES FROM OTHER STATES AND THE UNITED STATES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  All law enforcement agencies shall keep an accurate and current record of all homicides reported to such law enforcement agencies from any law enforcement agency from any state or from the United States.  If the victim's family resides in the State of Mississippi, the law enforcement agency possessing the report shall provide the full and complete report to the family.  The record of a homicide shall be maintained until the final adjudication of the homicide.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
