House Resolution 7

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE WILBERT L. JONES FOR HIS LEGISLATIVE SERVICE TO THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Wilbert L. Jones, an honored and cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, has rendered remarkable service in representing the constituency of House District 82; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jones was born and reared in Scott County, Mississippi, and after graduating from high school he attended Alcorn State University where he earned his bachelor's degree and then attended Mississippi State University where he received a master of science degree; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jones was initially elected in a 2009 special election by the citizens of District 82 to fill the seat vacated upon the death of longstanding Representative Charles L. Young, Sr., and which consists of Lauderdale County; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jones has served District 82 with utmost integrity and productive and dynamic representation, and has imparted his knowledge and understanding throughout the legislative process through his service on the following committees:  Fees and Salaries of Public Officers, Public Health and Human Services, Select Committee on Poverty, and Universities and Colleges; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his committed service to the House of Representatives, Representative Jones also served as CEO of a primary health care organization for many years and has been a devoted husband to his wife, Catherine Jones, and doting father to their two children, Angela and LaRon; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize one who has represented District 82, as well as this legislative body, with honor, respect and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Representative Wilbert L. Jones for his legislative legacy and service to the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Wilbert L. Jones and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
