Senate Resolution 6

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CLARKDALE HIGH SCHOOL "BULLDOGS" CHEERLEADERS FOR WINNING THE 2010 CLASS 3A LARGE DIVISION STATE CHEER CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Clarkdale High School Cheerleaders are State Champions after winning the 3A Large Division State Cheer Championship; and

WHEREAS, for the past five years, the cheerleading squad has won the title, bringing their total number of State Championships to six; and

WHEREAS, Coach Beverly Bozeman, coach for the 2010-2011 school year led these beautiful and dynamic ladies to their victory; and

WHEREAS, the cheerleading season starts immediately after tryouts are held in February for the Clarkdale High School Cheerleading Team, and summer break is spent at cheerleading and dance team camps. Though competition is very important to the team, the first and most important job is to support the athletic teams at Clarkdale High School. Competition practices for the cheerleader team run simultaneously through the entire football season and the beginning of basketball season. Each team member is responsible for maintaining high academic standards, supporting athletic teams and practicing for competition, all at the same time; and

WHEREAS, the captains of the cheer squad are: Hannah Ford, Lindsey Massey, and Bailey McElroy. The championship members of the squad along with their captains are: Blair Miller, Macy Jones, Kayla Monsour, Madison Bradley, Logan Bozeman, Kaitlyn Mathews, Baleigh Stephens, Logan Robinson, Kennedy Norman, Katie Weir, Brandi Caraway, Hannah Hamilton, Brianna Mayo, Raven Stephens, Caroline Kennard, Julia Stuckey, Brittany Allen, Brooke Lucas, Peyton Robinson, Emily Moss, Taylor Hollingsworth, Belle Turner, Anna Griffin, Marie Saulters, Jade Jay; and

WHEREAS, the team has also won the 2010 Magnolia Cheer Invitational; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this unique accomplishment by a group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Clarkdale High School "Bulldogs" Cheerleaders and Coach Beverly Bozeman for winning the 3A Large Division State Cheer Championship, and extend to these members and their parents the best wishes of the Legislature for their future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Clarkdale High School Cheer Team and Coach Bozeman, forwarded to Principal Cheryl Thomas, Athletic Director Rick Roberson and Superintendent Randy Hodges, and be made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
