Senate Concurrent Resolution 685

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DEDICATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICE OF TIPPAH COUNTY CORONER DAVID HUBBARD ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM OFFICE.

     WHEREAS, David Hubbard has served as Tippah County Coroner since January 1, 1996.  Prior to these four terms of office, he served as Deputy Coroner of Tippah County for over three years prior to his election; and

     WHEREAS, prior to his election as the county's official Medical Examiner/Investigator, David was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for 20 years, and was Assistant Director of Ambulance Service at Tippah County Hospital; and

     WHEREAS, he began his employment with Tippah County Hospital in April of 1975, and has dedicated half of his life to the health care profession.  He ran on the theory that the Coroner needs someone with medical knowledge.  Every death has to be investigated fully and with a questioning mind.  The person in this office needs to conduct himself in a professional manner, be efficient, and be a compassionate person.  He had all of these qualifications, and was willing to take on the responsibilities that go along with this job; and

     WHEREAS, David is a graduate of Ripley High School and married to the former Marilyn Hurt, daughter of Ramsey and Eva Hurt of Ripley.  His parents were Charles and Reba Hubbard of Ripley.  They have two children, Jason and Lauren, and three grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, David Hubbard's service as Coroner has been marked by his commitment to success and leadership, sound judgment and fairness.  He has set the highest standard in all of his many roles, as father, husband, health care professional, citizen and leader in Tippah County, and it is with great pride that we salute this outstanding Mississippi public servant:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the dedicated professional service of Tippah County Corner David Hubbard and extend our best wishes to David and his family on the occasion of his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to David Hubbard, forwarded to the Board of Supervisors of Tippah County, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
