A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE JUDICIAL CAREER OF 10TH CHANCERY DISTRICT JUDGE SEBE DALE, JR., ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 32 YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE.
WHEREAS, 10th Chancery District Judge Sebe Dale, Jr., of Columbia, Mississippi, did not seek reelection and retired on December 31, 2010, after 32 years of exemplary service to The Mississippi Bar and the citizens of his district; and
WHEREAS, the 10th Chancery District includes Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River and Perry Counties. Chancellor Dale began serving in 1978; and
WHEREAS, he had previously served 10 years as Youth Court Referee, serving from 1968; and
WHEREAS, Judge Dale has served for 21 years on the Mississippi Judicial College Board of Governors, including 18 years as Chairman. The Mississippi Judicial College is responsible for the education and training of court-related personnel, including judges, court administrators, court clerks and court reporters; and
WHEREAS, Judge Dale also previously served as Chairman of the Conference of Chancery Judges, and of the Mississippi Children's Code Commission. He is a former President of the Marion County Bar Association and a former Bar Commissioner. He has been a member of the Bar for 62 years; and
WHEREAS, the Marion County Chancery Court Building in Columbia was renamed the Sebe Dale, Jr Chancery Court Building on November 12, 2010, in his honor; and
WHEREAS, a reception was held on November 12, 2010, at the Sebe Dale, Jr Chancery Court Building in honor of his service, and it is with great pride that we join the citizens of the 10th Chancery District in recognizing the contributions of this respected jurist whose service to The Mississippi Bar and to the citizens of the State of Mississippi is a matter of record:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend the judicial career of 10th Chancery District Judge Sebe Dale, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement from the bench after 32 years of exemplary service, and extend our best wishes to Chancellor Dale and his family on this auspicious occasion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Chancellor Dale, forwarded to the Mississippi Judicial College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
