A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. STANISLAUS "ROCK-A-CHAWS" BASEBALL TEAM AND COACH MARK LOGAN FOR WINNING ITS FIRST-EVER MHSAA CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, THE BAY ST. LOUIS SCHOOL'S THIRD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2009-2010.

WHEREAS, the St. Stanislaus "Rock-a-Chaws" Baseball Team from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, placed an exclamation point on the Mississippi high school athletic program of the year by defeating the Amory High School "Panthers" on June 3, 2010, in Trustmark Park to win the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Championship.  This was the third state championship for 2009-2010 for St. Stanislaus, which finished the Baseball Rocks season with a 26-3 record.  With championships in football, soccer and now baseball, and the runner-up in boys basketball, the fans from Bay St. Louis have had plenty of practice with their celebrations.  This year marked St. Stanislaus' first-ever District Championship, South State Championship and State Championship for baseball in school history; and

WHEREAS, in the State Tournament, the sharpest uniforms and coolest nickname (Baseball Rocks) in the state faced off against the Panthers from Amory.  Game 1 of this series was also the first game of the championship week, and it set the tone for the games to come.  It was quick, just an hour and a half to complete, and it was decided by a late-game run.  Zander Romano scored the eventual game-winning run on a two-out base hit by Bo Brennan.  St. Stanislaus took Game 1 by a score of 5-4; and

WHEREAS, Game 2 was played under the lights two days later.  Justin Vaughn tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout, and the Rock-a-Chaws completed the sweep by a score of 6-2.  The celebration was on from there, as the fans from Bay St. Louis began some of the loudest chants of the week; and

WHEREAS, Coach Mark Logan, who pitched and played shortstop for St. Stanislaus 24 years ago, doesn't mind sharing his players with football and soccer.  "We're a small school and we have to share."  In Game 2, the entire infield and center fielder were players who were part of the football State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Boomer Scarborough was one of four PopStar award winners for the 2009-2010 school year by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.  Boomer Scarborough and Krisjon Wilkerson were named to the 2010 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Baseball Team.  Boomer was also named the Sun Herald's Hitter of the Year and Coach Mark Logan was named the Mississippi Association of Coaches 4A Coach of the Year and Sun Herald's Co-Coach of the Year.  MVPs for the St. Stanislaus Championship Game were Zander Romano, FB; Justin Vaughn, P; and Boomer Scarborough, SS/P; and

WHEREAS, the 2009-2010 St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws Baseball Team roster:  Laurence Bourgeois, RF/CF/P; Kollin Cannon, 2B; Taylor Anastasio, 2B; Dustin Ladner, 2B; Justin Vaughn, 3B/P; Tinney Austin, OF; Ryan Henry, SS/3B/P; Chris Lapniewski, C; Jonathan Allen, 1B/P; Krisjon Wilkerson C; Zander Romano, 1B/P; Patrick Logan, OF; Bryce Gex, OF/P; Cody Logan, OF; Michael Gemelli, LF; Bo Brennan, 3B/P; Andrew McGinity, C/P; Will Hazen, 1B/P; Jacob Lindgren, CF/P; Boomer Scarborough SS/P; Cayce Seal, 2B; Mitch Theologos, RF; Nick Everhart, OF; Chase Caffey, C; Trey Doussan, 3B/P; Destin Aime, 3B; Austin Ladner, SS; Sean Storey, 3B/P; Joseph Guillot, C; Irby Dossett, 1B; Zack Everhart, OF; Coach Mark Logan; Assistant Coaches Erich Hoffer, Ronnie Artiques and Brad Corley; and Managers Scott Wilson, Michael Breaux and Simon Wang; and
