AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF VICKSBURG, MISSISSIPPI, TO AUTHORIZE A MOTOR VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT GOODS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY WITH A WIDTH IN EXCESS OF THE MAXIMUM AUTHORIZED BY LAW IF CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS ARE MET; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 63-5-13, the governing authorities of the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi, may authorize a motor vehicle to transport goods with a width in excess of the maximum authorized by law if the following requirements are met:

          (a)  The transport of the goods occurs within the corporate limits of the City of Vicksburg;

          (b)  The transport of the goods begins from a point of origin in the city and proceeds across the Mississippi River Bridge;

          (c)  The total outside width of the vehicle and the load on the vehicle does not exceed eighteen (18) feet;

          (d)  The transport of the goods occurs on a four-lane roadway;

          (e)  The transport of the goods occurs during daylight hours; and

          (f)  The width of the vehicle and its load does not exceed federal limitations for the procurement of federal aid for either maintenance or construction.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
