A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KEELEY PATTERSON OF STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, UPON BEING CROWNED MISS MISSISSIPPI USA 2011.

     WHEREAS, Keeley Patterson of Starkville, Mississippi, a beautiful young lady majoring in marketing at Mississippi State University, was crowned Miss Mississippi USA 2011 on November 6, 2010, at the Harrah's Event Center in Tunica, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, as Miss Mississippi USA, Keeley will represent the State of Mississippi in the 2011 Miss USA pageant which will be broadcast to a national television audience from Las Vegas in June 2011; and

     WHEREAS, Keeley, actively involved with Prevent Child Abuse America, Girl Scouts of the USA and The Sally Kate Winters Home, believes, "every child deserves a chance at a bright and opportunistic future." and has used her platform to promote the importance of children's protection, mentorship and education and to raise awareness of the need for mentors and positive influences in the lives of children across the globe; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to holding the title Miss Mississippi USA 2011, Keeley, as the winner of the 60th Miss Mississippi USA pageant, has been awarded significant scholarships as well as many other valuable prizes, including wardrobe, jewelry and modeling opportunities; and

     WHEREAS, Keeley, a member of the prestigious MSU Student Recruiting team known as "The Roadrunners," is active on campus as a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, the MSU Fashion Board and the Student Association; and

     WHEREAS, in her spare time, Keeley enjoys running, reading, being outdoors, cooking and participating in community service projects; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to acknowledge those achieving excellence, and it is only fitting that we bring special recognition to Keeley Patterson, a lovely, talented young lady who, as Miss Mississippi USA 2011, is a source of great honor and pride to her family, community and the entire State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Keeley Patterson upon being crowned Miss Mississippi USA 2011 and extend sincerest wishes for success at the 2011 Miss USA pageant and in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Keeley Patterson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
