House Resolution 117

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE DANNIE LOYD REED FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Dannie Loyd Reed has served the citizens of House District 35, which includes Choctaw, Grenada, Oktibbeha and Webster Counties, for eight years; and

     WHEREAS, Dannie Loyd Reed was elected in the 2003 statewide general election and was sworn into office on January 6, 2004, at the commencement of the 2004 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Reed, a resident of Ackerman, Mississippi, was born October 19, 1951, in Louisville, Mississippi, and attended East Central Mississippi Community College after he graduated from high school, where he earned an associate of arts degree, before transferring to Mississippi State University, where he matriculated further to subsequently earn a bachelor of science, master of science and a doctorate in education; and

     WHEREAS, since his inaugural legislative term in 2004, Representative Reed has provided his constituents and the citizens of the State of Mississippi with extraordinary leadership and a strong commitment to excellence through an exemplary display of high moral character; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Reed currently serves the House as a member of the Agriculture; Interstate Cooperation; Oil, Gas and Other Minerals; and Universities and Colleges Committees; and

     WHEREAS, an affiliate of the Choctaw County Economic Development Foundation, Choctaw County Forestry, Choctaw County Farm Bureau and Broken Wings Ministries, Representative Reed, who diligently served as a county agent before his election to public office, has been lovingly supported in all of his endeavors by his beautiful wife, Connie Maxey Reed, and their children, Austin, Casey, Cristin and Tyler; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Reed's congenial nature, constructive attitude and forthright manner have had a positive influence on all of those who have had the pleasure of working with this highly respected member of the House; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor one of our own, who has represented his district, as well as this legislative body, with honor and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and express deepest appreciation to Representative Dannie Loyd Reed for his many outstanding contributions to the legislative process and the people of the State of Mississippi and extend heartiest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Reed and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
