A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. MYRTIS MAYO ON CELEBRATING THE 104TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER BIRTH ON MARCH 26, 2011.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Myrtis Mayo, born on March 26, 1907, to the late George Mathis Denson and Amanda Victoria Lee Denson, will celebrate the 104th anniversary of her birth on March 26, 2011, to be commemorated with a celebration in her honor, acknowledging and honoring her motherhood and service; and
WHEREAS, a virtuous woman among countless individuals to bear the title as a wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Mayo has a worth that far exceeds the price of rubies, as she has withstood the tests of time and abounded in wisdom and knowledge to become the matriarch of four generations; and
WHEREAS, having been blessed to experience a life of love and happiness, Mrs. Mayo united in holy matrimony to the late Prentiss Alexander Mayo, on August 10, 1924, and together they were blessed with six adoring children, and further rewarded by the fruit of their family tree with 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the possessor of the natural gift of being a Good Samaritan, helping anyone in any manner she could, Mrs. Mayo was always actively involved in the fulfillment of her Christian duties with a faith in God unparalleled by any other; and
WHEREAS, active in and throughout the community during her younger years, Mrs. Mayo, who has always been quite the resourceful homemaker, made all of her clothes for her entire life, as well as the clothes for her daughters, grandchildren and many others in the community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayo has seen the transformational changes of the United States of America, and has relied wholeheartedly on God as the driving force to sustain and power her through the circumstances, trials and triumphs of life, while sustained by her profound faith to lead an exemplary life, exuding the love of Christ and imparting the values of self-assuredness, perseverance, service and benevolence obtained with her years of infinite wisdom into the lives of all she has encountered along this journey; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an outstanding individual as Mrs. Mayo, who attributes her longevity to good, clean, moral living and her faith in God, as she celebrates this most grand occasion with her family and friends:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Myrtis Mayo, in commemoration of the 104th anniversary of her birth on Saturday, March 26, 2011, and express sincere wishes for sustained health, joy, peace and prosperity for many years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Mayo and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
