A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JERAMEY DEWAYNE ANDERSON UPON BEING NAMED THE "2010 YOUTH OF THE YEAR" OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF JACKSON COUNTY AND UPON BEING THE FIRST RUNNER-UP OF THE MISSISSIPPI ALLIANCE OF BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS "YOUTH OF THE YEAR" PROGRAM.

     WHEREAS, Jeramey DeWayne Anderson is being honored and recognized upon being named the "2010 Youth of the Year" of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County and upon being the first runner-up for the Mississippi Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs "Youth of the Year" program; and

     WHEREAS, Jeramey, a 19-year-old dynamic college student, credits the Boys and Girls Club in Pascagoula with creating a solid foundation that has caused him to flourish in all of his endeavors; and

     WHEREAS, Jeramey attended Moss Point High School where he earned an impressive GPA of 3.6 and while in high school, was elected class president for his sophomore, junior and senior years and was published in Who's Who Among Outstanding American Students in his ninth grade year; and

     WHEREAS, a gifted, informed and vibrant individual with a promising future, Jeramey, while in high school, was named Moss Point High School's Student of the Month for two consecutive months and was elected as Lieutenant Governor in the 2009  Mississippi Boys State, a testament of his leadership skills and abilities; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to being a role model and leader in high school, Jeramey was elected the Purple Knights of Jackson County Youth Auxiliary President for the years of 2007, 2008 and 2009, due to his scholastic achievement, exemplary character and promotion of community service; and

     WHEREAS, Jeramey, in addition to being a scholar, is one to help his fellowman through community service and, as a result, has assisted in planning the annual Walk Against Violence in the City of Moss Point and created a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County called "Hearts for Haiti," which has raised over $600.00 for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti; and

     WHEREAS, Jeramey, who is currently attending Pearl River Community College, majoring in criminal law, with a minor in business administration, plans after completing college to return to the City of Moss Point and embark upon a career in politics; and

     WHEREAS, specifically, Jeramey would like to become the Mayor of the City of Moss Point, Lieutenant Governor and eventually Governor of this great state, utilizing his leadership skills to make more improvements in the Magnolia State; and

     WHEREAS, Jeramey, known for paying acts of kindness forward, continues to serve as a mentor as well as a spokesperson in his words and deeds for the Boys and Girls Clubs and is a shining example of what a positive and tremendous impact that the clubs can have on youth across this state; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend an outstanding young leader such as Jeramey, who, with the help of the Boys and Girls Clubs, has exhibited dynamic leadership skills and a passion to assist others, while becoming a future great leader of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Jeramey DeWayne Anderson upon being named the "2010 Youth of the Year" of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County and upon being the first runner-up of the Mississippi Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs "Youth of the Year" program and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Jeramey D. Anderson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
