House Resolution 38

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SERVICE OF MRS. DOLLIE R. CREATH AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON BEING NAMED A RECIPIENT OF THE FANNIE LOU HAMER HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD ON THE OCCASION OF THE MISSISSIPPI WORKERS' CENTER'S 10TH ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM.

     WHEREAS, in honor and recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development and care of the young impressionable minds of the children she cares for, Mrs. Dollie R. Creath is being honored by the Mississippi Workers' Center with the Fannie Lou Hamer Human Rights Award on the occasion of its 10th Annual Black History Program; and

     WHEREAS, born in Jackson, Mississippi, the fifth child of nine siblings to the late Odis and Dorothy Rainer, Dollie R. Creath is a natural provider and caretaker with innate mother-wit, as she is the mother of five children, six grandchildren, one goddaughter and one godson; and

     WHEREAS, a graduate of Clarksdale High School, Mrs. Creath, in the pursuit of her own life's excellence, attended Coahoma Community College after high school where she received her associate of arts secretarial degree, and was vested with the designation of credentialed director by the Mississippi Department of Human Services in 1998, before also receiving her child development associate credential; and

     WHEREAS, she became employed as a secretary with Greenville Day Care Learning Center/Brent Center in February 1992, serving in that capacity until 1994 when she became the assistant director before receiving her child care facility director's license in 2000, which afforded her the blessing, in January 2001, to become a licensed director of Greenville Day Care Learning Center/Brent Center, currently directing approximately 100 to 120 children and overseeing an annual budget of more than $105,000.00; and

     WHEREAS, committed to serving and helping the community in any manner within her capabilities, Mrs. Creath believes in the paramount benefit afforded in giving individuals the opportunity of another chance, as she hires TANF workers, who are volunteer workers through the Department of Human Services to provide a line of job training, in addition to her employing 15 regular child care providers and assistants; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the gift of understanding, consideration and compassion, that keeps on giving, when evidenced by such reputable individuals as Mrs. Creath, who has adopted the motto:  "Your child is the center of our joy.  We are the foundation for tomorrow's education.":

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the service of Mrs. Dollie R. Creath, congratulate her upon being named a recipient of the Fannie Lou Hamer Human Rights Award on the occasion of the Mississippi Workers' Center's 10th Annual Black History Program and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Creath, the Mississippi Workers' Center and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
