House Resolution 30

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COACH LESLIE FRAZIER UPON HIS PROMOTION TO THE POSITION OF HEAD COACH OF THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS FOOTBALL TEAM.

     WHEREAS, Leslie Frazier, a proud native of Columbus, Mississippi, and former Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings has been promoted to the position of Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings; and

     WHEREAS, this distinguished appointment makes Coach Leslie Frazier the eighth coach in the Vikings' team history; and

     WHEREAS, Zygi Wilf, the Vikings' owner, stated "We are thrilled that Leslie Frazier will continue to lead this football team."; and

     WHEREAS, the Wilf family has continually shown dedication to building a world-class football organization, and Coach Frazier's promotion as head coach is evidence of the family's dedication to that cause; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Frazier took the helm of the team mid-season for the fired Brad Childress, and led the team to a 3-3 record despite the Metrodome collapse, an injured Brett Favre and one of the most eventful off-the-field seasons in history; and

     WHEREAS, before joining the Vikings, Frazier was an assistant coach under Tony Dungy from 2005-2007, played cornerback for the Chicago Bears from 1981 to 1986 and won a Super Bowl in 1985; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize a Mississippian, such as Coach Frazier, who has achieved prominence in his profession:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Leslie Frazier upon being named the new Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings Football Team.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Frazier and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
