House Resolution 27

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JAVORAL QUANTEZ HARRIS UPON THE HONOR OF EARNING THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD AND BEING HONORED AT THE DISTINGUISHED EAGLE COURT OF HONOR CEREMONY.

WHEREAS, Javoral Quantez Harris, of Itta Bena, Mississippi, and a member of the Malmaison District of the Chickasaw Council #558, will experience the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award on February 20, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the distinguished Eagle Court of Honor will be held at the Samuel Chapel United Methodist Church in Itta Bena, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, this young man has been a scout for a number of years, and as evidenced by the receipt of the Eagle Scout honor, his list of community service and extracurricular activities indicate the achievements and the bright future that exists for this young Mississippian; and

WHEREAS, through his years as a Boy Scout, Javoral has met all the requirements and has earned the required merit badges to fulfill his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, his Eagle service projects included remodeling the parking lot at Samuel Chapel United Methodist Church by making it handicap accessible and improving the landscape of the church, and for the City of Itta Bena, Javoral assisted in improving the Brazil Community Center handicap parking, parking lot, equipment repairs and helped with major cleaning of the walls and floors; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we commend this young Mississippian, who has attained scouting's highest rank and in doing so, brings honor to his family, his school, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Javoral Quantez Harris of the Malmaison District of the Chickasaw Council #558 upon earning the Eagle Scout Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Javoral Quantez Harris and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
