House Resolution 12

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COACH ERIC NEEL OF THE WAYNE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL LADY WAR EAGLES GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR BEING NAMED THE 2010 MISSISSIPPI SOFTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR BY THE CLARION-LEDGER NEWSPAPER.

WHEREAS, Coach Eric Neel of the Wayne County High School Lady War Eagles Girls Softball Team was named the 2010 Mississippi Softball Coach of the Year by The Clarion-Ledger newspaper; and

WHEREAS, Coach Neel led the Wayne County High School Lady War Eagles Girls Softball Team to a 23-11 record that included a two-game sweep of Hernando in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 5A Softball State Championship Series; and

WHEREAS, Coach Neel has coached fast-pitch softball for four years and has taken his teams to the state championship series all four years, winning the title a remarkable three times; and

WHEREAS, having previously coached East Central High School to the 2007 and 2009 titles, he took over the Wayne County program and led the Lady War Eagles to their first softball state title in his first season; and

WHEREAS, Coach Neel's championship softball team includes the following dedicated team members: Alexxa Andrews, Kayla Bunch, Riley McCarty, Shalaria Pickens, Ravean Matthews, Jordynne Grimes, Farrah Sullivan, Laken Singleton, Jade Albritton, Megan Cook, Katie Bunch, Chrischrishia Matthews, Shabria Slater, LaCortia McFarland, Paxton Luke, Reid Cooley, Gabby Franklin, Jessica Cochran, Camille Johnston, Brooke Brewer, Laura Ferguson, Kallie Bunch, Shay Waller and Skylar McClain; and

WHEREAS, turning young ladies into women, the Wayne County High School program's future is bright with Coach Neel at the helm and is further bolstered with the guidance and support of the Wayne County community; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend and congratulate an outstanding coach such as Coach Eric Neel who has brought honor to his school, the community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Eric Neel of the Wayne County High School Lady War Eagles Girls Softball Team for being named the 2010 Mississippi Softball Coach of the Year by The Clarion-Ledger newspaper, for winning the 2010 MHSAA Class 5A State Championship, for coaching his team to a 23-11 record for the 2010 season, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Eric Neel and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
