House Concurrent Resolution 107

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON-RIDGELAND ACADEMY PATRIOTS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2010-2011 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THEIR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots Boys Basketball Team finished the 2010-2011 season with an outstanding record of 31 wins and 10 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots did well in tournament play this year, winning the Overall Championship for the fifth consecutive year marking the first time in the 41-year history of private schools that one team has won five straight overall titles; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots 2010-2011 team is comprised of the following members: Barak Cargile, Alec Rawlings, John Durgin May, Evan Lennep, Tyler Cummins, Caleb Miskelly, J.T. Williamson, Matt Porter, Kamry Owens, Connor Ruwe, Adam Sims, Matthew Camp, Will Hedgepeth, Austin Booth, Michael Gordon, Michael Tucker, Daniel Atkins, Will Trammell, Justin Malone and Hadley Kelsey; and

WHEREAS, in the title game, a 67-51 win over Jackson Prep, the Patriots were led by senior guard Caleb Miskelly with 26 points and 12 assists, senior Tyler Cummings with 14 points and 9 points each by Kamry Owens and Justin Malone; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Richard Duease and Assistant Coaches Ross Hailey and Kevin Moses, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Madison-Ridgeland Academy High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots Boys Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Richard Duease and Assistant Coaches Ross Hailey and Kevin Moses, for their outstanding 2010-2011 season, for winning their fifth consecutive Overall Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Head Coach Richard Duease, Assistant Coaches Ross Hailey and Kevin Moses and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
